2009 is about cutting corners, and for many of us that means saving TIME (because we're already a bit short on money). If you're going to spend time AND money attending an event, it better be worthwhile. My mission from now on will be to help you cut through the cruft, and find out which events you should be attending whether you're an entrepreneur, service provider, student, investor, startup junkie, or tech enthusiast. If we can get some good healthy debate going in the comments, so much the better. I'll include photos and video whenever possible so you can see the participants, atmosphere, and content for yourself.

New Recurring Seattle Tech Event - Drumroll please...
I've been pondering what kind of event I wanted to host in Seattle (and yes, I'll write them up here so you can rip them apart in the comments) and I realized that my favorite kinds of networking events are the ones that don't feel like networking at all. Yes, the guest list consists of technologists, upstarts, founder, investors, and early adopters - but the focus is on the human connection, and on having FUN (see:
Hops & Chops) dovetails nicely with another thing I've been thinking about a lot lately...
How can we make a connection between the Seattle startup community and other communities that are like us? How can we create an event that employees at Microsoft, Amazon, and Google will come to where they won't feel like "the outsiders" and the startup community won't feel like they're "crashing the party". Basically - where is neutral ground?
The answer: karaoke.
